That response from the therapist is one of my biggest fears and the main reason I’ve not been able to seriously look for a therapist, though I feel I desperately need one sometimes. I hear things like this all of the time. Therapists shrugging off or belittling things that make people feel torn up inside. It’s not a therapist’s place to decide what’s important to their client. It’s a therapist’s place to help them understand the place of things in their life.
Also, note to self, mock up something for the PU self-submission. That sentence will probably rattle through my head until I die, and it’s still the most chilling thing I’ve ever heard in real life or in fiction.

Can someone please help me understand this. I’m not sure if I’m not understanding it just because It’s 1 am or because I’m just nowhere near the point. Either way…little help guys?

what is it that youre not understanding?
that people would assume it’s the victim’s/survivor’s fault that sexual abuse happens to them because they themselves have not been in this situation?

It’s not my submission, but that’s what my former therapists say. Ha. Pretty explains what kind of people they are.
